Product Configurator - 2026

The first of three projects for Tenjam, a premium pool furniture company from the US. The Laylo lounger ships with riser options, and customers struggled to judge which height suits their pool. The configurator answers that question inside the scene.

Built as a lightweight WebGPU application with a WebGL fallback, with every model converted from manufacturing STL into optimized glTF.

The demo phase.

The project opened with an exploration stage: a working demo built from Tenjam's document imagery, testing a more immersive direction with camera movement and a stronger sense of environment.

The direction held up. The conversations around it mattered more: Tenjam wanted something simple for their user base, nothing standing between the customer and the product. The project moved to a leaner form with one goal, showing how the Laylo lounger works.

Riser choice at pool depth.

Three setups: No Risers, 4-inch, 8-inch. A depth slider moves the waterline through the scene, and the suitability feedback follows, so customers read their own pool against each configuration. At 16 inches the tool says plainly that the bare lounger exceeds its maximum depth, which is exactly the mistake it exists to prevent.

Finishes and product details sit alongside, without competing with the depth decision.

Finish options in consistent lighting.

Every finish renders in the same neutral daylight, so white granite and river read as different materials rather than different photographs. The finish bar stays one tap away at every depth.

WebGPU, a fallback, and STL conversion.

The application targets WebGPU and falls back to WebGL on devices that are not compatible yet.

Tenjam supplied their models mainly as STL, so each asset was converted into a detailed, lightweight glTF, its textures compressed and optimized for the web.

The scene also renders underwater views, with the submerged parts of each lounger visible through the waterline, which is how customers actually see the product in a pool.

Tenjam commissioned the next configurator as soon as this one shipped: the Shayz lounger.
